Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic

Monitoring kidney function and treatment of chronic kidney disease to reduce complications and progression to kidney failure.

One cause of kidney failure is diabetes mellitus, a condition characterised by high blood glucose or sugar levels. Over a period of time, high levels of sugar in the blood damage tiny filtering units within each kidney.

Consultative General Nephrology

Kidney complications of diabetes mellitus and hypertension, autoimmune diseases affecting the kidney, such as systemic lupus erythematosus. Fluid and electrolyte disorders like abnormal blood levels of sodium, potassium and calcium levels. Acute and chronic kidney failure, volume overload from kidney diseases and other edematous states.

Chronic Kidney Failure requiring Dialysis Treatment

There are various methods of treating patients with end stage kidney disease (chronic kidney failure). This includes in-center hemodialysis, home hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis. However, kidney transplantation is the best treatment option. Early evaluation and timely referral for kidney transplantation is the desired objective.

Long-term Care after Kidney or Kidney-Pancreas Transplant

Medical care provided by specialists improves long-term outcome and reduces complications. Our physicians will closely monitor the function of your kidney transplant and adjust your anti-rejection medications, while serving as a bridge between you and your transplant center.

Lupus Nephritis

Lupus nephritis is an inflammation of the kidneys caused by Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). SLE is a chronic, complex, and often disabling autoimmune disorder. An autoimmune disorder is one in which the body’s immune system (which fights off bacteria, viruses, and germs) attacks the body’s own cells, tissues, and organs.
